Opus Dei

The custom of using holy water is a sacramental sign that reminds us of our Baptism and helps sanctify daily life. Making the sign of the cross with it at the end of the day or when entering a church is an expression of our desire for purification and spiritual protection, trusting in God’s grace.

The conclave is a unique time in the life of the Church, during which the cardinals gather in prayer to discern the next Pope. But they are not alone: the Holy Spirit is guiding them and, through prayer, we can support them too.

Rodrigo and Mariana reflect on the everyday challenges every couple faces. Their faith leads them to see marriage not only as an earthly commitment, but as a vocation that leads them closer to Heaven.

Msgr. José Andrés Carvajal was born in Murcia (Spain) in 1970. He was ordained a priest in Rome in 1999. He has been Central Secretary Vicar of the Prelature of Opus Dei since April 2025.

M. Julia Prats was born in Terrassa (Spain) in 1964. She is an industrial engineer, with a doctorate in Business Administration, and a professor specializing in entrepreneurship and innovation. She has been Central Secretary of Opus Dei since April 2025.

During the session of the 10th Ordinary General Congress of Opus Dei, as established by current regulations, in addition to the vicars, the Prelate appointed the other members of the Central Advisory and the General Council, the bodies that assist the Prelate in governing the institution.

Jorge Gisbert was born in Alcoy, Alicante (Spain) in 1969. He was ordained a priest in 2004. He was Central Vicar Secretary of Opus Dei from 2019 to 2025.
