United to the Pope's April 11 Prayer Vigil for Peace

The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) has called on the Filipino faithful to be in solidarity with Pope Leo XIV’s prayer vigil for peace on Saturday, April 11.

Pope Leo XIV called on the faithful to join him in a prayer vigil for peace at Saint Peter’s Basilica on Saturday, April 11. Delivering his Urbi et Orbi message on Easter Sunday, the pontiff urged Christians to “implore the Lord to grant his peace to a world ravaged by wars and marked by a hatred and indifference that make us feel powerless in the face of evil.”

In solidarity with the Pope’s appeal, Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) president Archbishop Gilbert Garcera encouraged dioceses across the country to organize Eucharistic adoration, rosary recitations, or Masses for this same intention.

“Such a collective act of prayer will not only express our solidarity with the Holy Father but will also witness to our shared hope that true peace, which begins in Christ, may prevail in our hearts and in the world,” Garcera said.

“The peace that Jesus gives us is not merely the silence of weapons, but the peace that touches and transforms the heart of each one of us! Let us allow ourselves to be transformed by the peace of Christ!” the Pope said in his Urbi et Orbi message.
