The homily given by Bishop Javier Echevarria, the Prelate of Opus Dei, in Rome during the ordination ceremony on May 26, 2007.

“I’m a recovering drug dependent,” confesses Gil, 52, entrepreneur and former leftist activist. After eight years, he is now on the 12th and final step of the drug recovery program: helping others, especially other dependents. His wife Ming, a cooperator of Opus Dei believes “St. Josemaria interceded for us through the Immaculate Mother and answered our prayer.”

Last May 5, Filipino overseas workers from Barcelona made a Marian pilgrimage to the shrine of Torreciudad in the northern part of Spain. The pilgrimage was patterned after the so-called "romeria" that St. Josemaria encouraged Marian devotees to undertake during the month of May.
