34 faithful of Opus Dei were ordained priests on Saturday, May 4th, at the Basilica of St. Eugene in Rome. The new priests come from 16 different countries and join the clergy of the Prelature.

Shortly before 10 am (Rome time) on Saturday, May 4th, the ordinations of 34 faithful of the Opus Dei prelature will be broadcast live on this website.

On 4 May 2019, Bernard Nderitu will be ordained in Rome together with 33 other faithful of Opus Dei. He will be the first Associate member of Opus Dei in Africa to be ordained a priest

34 faithful of Opus Dei were ordained deacons yesterday at the basilica of Saint Eugene in Rome, by Archbishop Celso Morga of Mérida-Badajoz (Spain).

Paul Kioko, who will be ordained a transitional deacon on Saturday, spent his childhood in Kenya alongside elephants and lions.

On Saturday, 3rd of November, 34 faithful of Opus Dei from 16 countries will receive the diaconate in the Roman basilica of St. Eugene. Their priestly ordination will be next May 4th.

Paul Kioko grew up among elephants, lions and snakes. After working for a number of years as a doctor, he is preparing himself to become a deacon on the 3rd of November. This is his story.

“I really needed this,” was the comment of one priest at the end of the week. Like many priests busy with their pastoral work, he knew how to give spiritual strength to others but was getting very little himself. One of the Christians in his parish heard about a seminar being organised for diocesan priests and paid for him to attend.

Lebanese priest Fadi Sarkis never met Saint Josemaría but says they have become great friends. Fr. Sarkis, who lives in Beirut, is a member of the Priestly Society of the Holy Cross.

Three faithful of Opus Dei have received priestly ordination in the Marian sanctuary of Torreciudad at the hands of Bishop José María Yanguas.
