Strathmore University has been chosen as the first venue for the Exhibition A Saint in figures; that, from 30th will tour the East Africa geography. The Association Memoria de Alvaro del Portillo -organizers of the Beatification of Bishop Alvaro del Portillo- seeks to highlight the work carried out during his lifetime.

It all started in the 80's when my wife and I began to feel the urge to be a bit more serious in our faith. By then we had four children. We attended Sunday Mass but we did not partake of the sacraments.

Isabel Covarrubias, a teacher from Santiago, Chile, is spending this semester helping out at Kimlea Technical Training Centre in Kenya.

Near Nairobi, Kenya, Kimlea began in 1989 under the encouragement of Bishop Alvaro del Portillo. To date about 12,000 women have benefited, most of them young girls working on the tea and coffee plantations.

From July 28 to August 3, as part of his pastoral trip to 6 countries in Central America, Bishop Echevarria visited Nicaragua and Costa Rica and met with thousands of people.

I have never seen any angels. I have never heard any divine words being whispered in my ear. I have never been caught up into heaven to see the throne of God. I have never seen Jesus appear to me. I have never experienced any apparitions of any kind.
