Pope John Paul encourages 15,000 young people to revitalize the rich patrimony of Europe
On September 3, thousands of young people listened to a recorded message from the Pope at a conference of Catholic Action in Loreto, Italy. Besides emphasizing the role young people must play in building a new Europe, the Holy Father declared that “a civilization of love cannot be established by separating the Gospel from culture.”

The inaugural session of the tribunal of the prelature of Opus Dei which will conduct the informative stage of the cause of canonization of Msgr. Alvaro del Portillo took place on March 20. The ceremony was held in the Hoffner Hall of the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross in Rome, with some four hundred persons attending.
Bishop Echevarría Ordains 37 New Priests
The Prelate of Opus Dei ordained 37 priests from 16 countries on May 22 in Rome. In his homily, Bishop Echevarría said: “We have big hopes for them, as the world is so much in need of Christ’s love. By sowing peace and joy, we Christians are carriers of the ‘sweet fragrance of Christ’ so long as we remain closely united to Our Lord with unshakeable confidence in his goodness and power.”
