In his 21 May general audience, Pope Leo XIV continued the catechetical cycle on Jesus Christ, our hope, begun by Pope Francis for the Jubilee of 2025. He spoke about the parable of the sower.

On Saturday, 10 May, the Pope will meet with the cardinals. On Sunday, he will pray the Regina Caeli and give a greeting from the Central Loggia of St. Peter’s Basilica. Communiqué from the Prefecture of the Pontifical Household.

Pope Leo XIV (United States, 1955) was born in Chicago. On 30 January 2023, Pope Francis appointed him Prefect of the Dicastery for Bishops and President of the Pontifical Commission for Latin America. He was created and proclaimed Cardinal by Pope Francis on 30 September 2023. On 8 May 2025, with the name Leo XIV, he was elected the 267th Supreme Pontiff of the Catholic Church.

Six days before his death, the Pope wrote a letter to the young people of UNIV. In this video, they thank him for 12 years of closeness. This year, nearly 3,000 students gathered in Rome for Holy Week in the Jubilee year. The 57th edition of UNIV also included a series of cultural events reflecting on this year’s theme: “Citizens of Our World.”

Pope Francis made his first Apostolic Journey to Africa from the 25th to 30th November 2015. He first visited Kenya, then Uganda and finally the Central African Republic. We include links to all the speeches he made during his trip.
