The Prelate’s Visit to Bari, Italy

In 1954, St. Josemaría prayed at the tomb of St. Nicholas in Bari, asking his intercession at a time of grave financial need. Fifty years later, the Prelate wanted to make a return visit to Bari.

Don Alvaro, witness of fidelity

The inaugural session of the tribunal of the prelature of Opus Dei which will conduct the informative stage of the cause of canonization of Msgr. Alvaro del Portillo took place on March 20. The ceremony was held in the Hoffner Hall of the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross in Rome, with some four hundred persons attending.

The Prelate of Opus Dei ordained 37 priests from 16 countries on May 22 in Rome. In his homily, Bishop Echevarría said: “We have big hopes for them, as the world is so much in need of Christ’s love. By sowing peace and joy, we Christians are carriers of the ‘sweet fragrance of Christ’ so long as we remain closely united to Our Lord with unshakeable confidence in his goodness and power.”
