The beatification of Guadalupe Ortiz de Landázuri, the first lay person of Opus Dei to be raised to the altars, will take place in the Vistalegre pavilion, a well-known event space in Madrid.

The Holy See has communicated that Pope Francis – accepting the petition made by the Prelate of Opus Dei, Monsignor Fernando Ocáriz – has decreed that Guadalupe Ortiz de Landázuri will be beatified in Madrid on Saturday 18 May 2019.

Blessed Alvaro del Portillo was beatified on September 27, 2014. Here is a favor received in connection with his beatification.

Dora del Hoyo was the first assistant numerary of Opus Dei who died on 10th January 2004, just a day before turning 90. Assistant numeraries are ladies who have the vocation in Opus Dei to live apostolic celibacy and take care of their homes, the centres of the Work.

Lucina is the director and co-founder of a school in Mexico named after Guadalupe Ortiz de Landázuri. Started in 2013 and with a little over a hundred graduates, the school is making a big difference among the inhabitants of Michoacán.
