Thanks to Scepter (U.K.) Ltd. and the Fundación Studium, here is a digital version of Letter 6 from The Collected Letters, volume II, in which St. Josemaria wrote about some aspects of the vocation and mission of the Work, speaking particularly about secularity.

This letter, which bears the number 29 in the collected works of St. Josemaria, speaks of the work of St. Gabriel, one of the apostolates (perhaps the most extensive today) that Opus Dei develops among people who have already passed their youth and who, in general, feel called to follow the path of holy matrimony.

In his 3 January general audience, Pope Francis continued his catechetical cycle on vices and virtues, speaking about spiritual struggle.

'Friendship is one of life’s gifts and a grace from God. Faithful friends, who stand at our side in times of difficulty, are a reflection of the Lord’s love, His gentle and consoling presence in our lives.' These are words of Pope Francis. The Prelate of Opus Dei, Don Fernando, wrote a long letter on Friendship in 2019 prioritizing the need for personal contact with people. The following year, the Holy Father also highlighted the importance of the art of encounter as an aspiration and a style of life.

Family Enrichment Uganda (FEU) is a group of married couples that came together in 2004 to organize and carry out Family Enrichment courses for other couples in Uganda. The clear objective was to further strengthen marriages in the Ugandan society. After careful consideration, FEU decided to be affiliated to the International Federation for Family Development (IFFD) in order to use IFFD’s case study methodology in carrying out Family Enrichment courses.

The Apostolic Penitentiary of the Holy See has communicated that the indulgences, which members of the Work and their relatives can gain on these dates, are granted in perpetuity. Until now, they were renewed every seven years.

Msgr. Fernando Ocáriz wishes everyone a peaceful Christmas, praying to the Child Jesus for peace throughout the world and in our homes. "We also have to consider where the source of peace is. If we turn to the letter to the Ephesians, we immediately find that phrase of St. Paul: 'He is our peace.' Christ!"

Tomás and Paquita Alvira were married members of Opus Dei, who strove for sanctity through the heroic and persevering exercise of the Christian virtues, in their marriage, raising their children and passing on to others their joy of a bright and cheerful home. Both suffered painful illnesses towards the end of their lives, and offered up their suffering with a deeply supernatural outlook.
