At the Cross her station keeping, stood the mournful Mother weeping, close to Jesus to the last:

Through her heart, his sorrow sharing, all his bitter anguish bearing, now at length the sword has passed.

Oh, how sad and sore distressed was that Mother highly blest ff the sole-begotten One!

Christ above in torment hangs; she beneath beholds the pangs of her dying glorious Son.

Is there one who would not weep, whelm’d in miseries so deep, Christ’s dear Mother to behold?

Can the human heart refrain from partaking in her pain, in that Mother’s pain untold?

Bruised, derided, cursed, defiled, she beheld her tender Child all with bloody scourges rent;

For the sins of his own nation, saw Him hang in desolation, till his Spirit forth He sent.

O thou Mother! fount of love! Touch my spirit from above, make my heart with thine accord:

Make me feel as thou hast felt; make my soul to glow and melt with the love of Christ my Lord.

Holy Mother! pierce me through; in my heart each wound renew of my Saviour crucified:

Let me share with thee his pain, who for all my sins was slain, who for me in torments died.

Let me mingle tears with thee, mourning Him who mourned for me, all the days that I may live:

By the Cross with thee to stay; there with thee to weep and pray; is all I ask of thee to give.

Virgin of all virgins blest!, listen to my fond request: let me share thy grief divine;

Let me, to my latest breath, in my body bear the death of that dying Son of thine.

Wounded with his every wound, steep my soul till it hath swooned, in his very blood away;

Be to me, O Virgin, nigh, lest in flames I burn and die, in his awful Judgment day.

Christ, when Thou shalt call me hence, be thy Mother my defence, be thy Cross my victory;

While my body here decays, may my soul thy goodness praise, safe in Paradise with Thee. Amen.

Blessed be your purity, may it be blessed for ever, for no less than God takes delight in such exalted beauty. To you, heavenly Princess, Holy Virgin Mary, I offer on this day my whole heart, life, and soul. Look upon me with compassion; do not leave me, my mother.

From the first Sunday of Advent through Christmas

Loving Mother of the Redeemer, who remains the accessible Gateway of Heaven, and Star of the Sea, give aid to a falling people that strives to rise;  

O thou who begot thy holy Creator, while all nature marvelled, Virgin before and after receiving that “Ave” from the mouth of Gabriel, have mercy on sinners.

For Lent

Hail, O Queen of Heaven. Hail, O Lady of Angels Hail! thou root, hail! thou gate from whom unto the world a light has arisen:

Rejoice, O glorious Virgin, lovely beyond all others, farewell, most beautiful maiden, and pray for us to Christ.

My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord, my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour, for He has looked with favor on his lowly servant.

From this day all generations will call me blessed: the Almighty has done great things for me, and holy is his Name. He has mercy on those who fear Him in every generation.

He has shown the strength of his arm, He has scattered the proud in their conceit. He has cast down the mighty from their thrones, and has lifted up the lowly. He has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich He has sent away empty.

He has come to the help of his servant Israel, for He has remembered his promise of mercy, the promise He made to our fathers, to Abraham and his children forever.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Hail, holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, our life, our sweetness and our hope.

To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve; to thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears.

Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us;

and after this our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
