Message from the Prelate (July 1, 2018)

The solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul is a good opportunity to redouble our prayer for the Church and the Pope, the Prelate tells us in his July 1 message.

On Friday we celebrated the solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul. In the gospel at Mass we heard once again Jesus’ promise to Peter: “And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it” (Mt 16:18). These words remind us as well of the spiritual itinerary that very early on Saint Josemaria set forth for us: Omnes cum Petro ad Iesum per Mariam.

From apostolic times, the Church has suffered and continues to suffer persecutions and also internal attacks against its unity. This fact, far from discouraging us, should lead us to an ever renewed vision of faith—a gift of God—which is shown in prayer for the Church, for the Pope, and in a special way for all those who are suffering persecution on account of the Gospel.
