Jillian is 26 years old and works as a research assistant in a metabolic diseases laboratory in Singapore. She moved to New Zealand with her family when she was ten, studied in Australia, and eventually returned to her home country.

Her journey of faith began in a Christian home. When she started attending a Catholic church run by priests of Opus Dei, she found something she had never experienced before. She saw a deep joy in the people around her—and wanted to be like them.

The decision to dedicate her life to God took time, prayer, and courage. After much prayer and spiritual guidance, Jillian discerned her vocation and joined Opus Dei as an associate. “I realized that He just wanted me to love Him, to love Him first, to give my heart more widely to the people around me; to really love like Jesus loved everybody.”

Telling her family and friends wasn’t easy. She was surprised by her father’s unconditional support, while her mother and her friends needed more time to understand.

Her daily life is still full of the ordinary routine of lab work, which might seem repetitive, but her way of seeing things has changed completely.
