Those who care for the sick have an opportunity to live charity and to exercise patience.
“Jesus, here is John the Milkman”
When St. Josemaria was a young parish priest, there was a milkman who entered his Church every morning for a few seconds. “Jesus, here is John the milkman.” To the young priest, that prayer seemed simple and beautiful (Weekly Video: 01’21’’).
The donkey and young Josemaría
Rete 4, an Italian television station, recently aired an animated program on the early life of St. Josemaría Escrivá. This fragment shows how the young boy comes to understand the value of work by seeing a donkey hard at work (02'03'').
"The saint of the ordinary"
A 7 minute video about the life of Saint Josemaría Escrivá, who spread the call to sanctity in daily life and was called the "saint of the ordinary" by John Paul II. "We have to be contemplative souls in the middle of the world, who strive to turn our work into prayer," he often said.
”What do you want to leave in our hearts?”
“When you leave,” St. Josemaría was once asked,” what do you want to leave in our hearts.” He quickly replied: “That you be brothers and sisters to all creatures: sowers of peace and joy” (1:10).
To be tranquil and serene
Saint Josemaria speaks to a gathering of priests, encouraging them to identify themselves with Christ.
“Lord, I love you”
In order to love someone, we have to get to know them, converse with them, laugh and suffer with them. And this is what we need to do with Jesus Christ. St. Josemaría told him: “I believe in you, I hope in you, I love you, I long to be your friend…” (2:01)
That all may be saved
St Josemaria's homily "That all may be saved" published in ‘Friends of God’, is now available in mp3 format. "Our task as children of God is to get all men to enter, freely, into the divine net; to get them to love each other."
Family and work balance
We have a human ideal that becomes divine. New horizons of hope open up in our life and we come to the point of sacrificing willingly.
