Students leaving secondary schools with a pass at credit level in Maths and Physics and a simple pass in English and Chemistry can smile. The Institute for Industrial Technology (IIT) is offering admissions to them for a 3-year multi-skill technician course made up of mechanical, electrical, electronics and industrial automation components.
The IIT is a privately-own institution backed by the leading industries in Nigeria, which is importing one of the most efficient methods for training technical skills in the world: the Dual Training System. It involves partnership between the school and industries of its Cooperating Companies, which provide an on going industrial training during the training process. This also makes it easy for graduates to secure jobs in the industry.

The founding fathers of this worthy institution leave no doubt about their aims and mission in this regard for the IIT came into being in the year 2000 in commemoration of the centenary of the birth of Saint Josemaría Escrivá, the founder of Opus Dei. He was greatly concerned about social works such as this in order to give people the means to improve their condition and that of their families. The classes on Professional Ethics imparted, and the spiritual activities the students are encouraged to freely participate in, are under the direction of Opus Dei.

It encourages people to develop to the top their potentials, God's given talents, and to use the acquired skills to serve others working well, with professional competence, and in God's sight: for love of Him and one's neighbour. Interested applicants are to buy applications forms (N350) at the Institute from February 13, 2006 to April 14, 2006 and prepare for the entrance exam that will be conducted on Saturday April 22, 2006.
Construction work on its permanent site at Isheri-North, in Lagos State, is making good progress. Meanwhile the Institute is using a wing block at NAMPAC Nigeria Plc Complex (formerly CarnaudMetalBox) at no. 3-7 Metalbox Road, Ogba Industrial Estate, beside WAMPCO, Ikeja, Lagos.
